

What ABOUT Mark
Mark Light has seen and overcome more than his share of adversity his 60 years. He dropped to of college due to low grades and lack of any real direction and struggled & failed failed numerous times in business and sales before finally becoming a top producer in his financial firm. Mark has faced a seemingly endless string of major health challenges, including a 13 year battle with pancreatitis, bacterial meningitis and, most recently, Mark was declared “cancer-free” after a 3 1/2 year stage IV cancer journey. Mark has also worn many professional hats in his life, from licensed financial advisor, to sales trainer to roofing contractor. Most recently, he is the founder of The Mark Light Group, a soft-skills organization to help people better deal with significant hardship, both in and out of the workplace. Those who know Mark would likely describe him as an “outdoor adventurer”. A devout fitness enthusiast, Mark is also an avid cyclist. In 2016, he rode a solo bicycle journey across the US, from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL, to raise money for a 3 year old girl stricken by the same pancreatitis which nearly killed him and who was in need of a life-saving surgery. He has hiked rim-to-rim of the Grand Canyon 3 times, bungee jumped and even jumped out of an airplane. In January 2025, he authored his first book entitled “Rock Bottom to Resilient-Transform Your Mind and Become Unshakeable When the Shit Hits the Fan. He is a board member for the Central Indiana Chapter of The National Football Foundation and was the co-founder of the Pancreatitis Foundation. In his personal life, mark has two adult daughters and two grandchildren. Mark is a die-hard fan of the Indianapolis Colts and an even bigger fan of Oreo Cookies (Double Stuff, baby!!). He has attended every Indy 500 since 1977, save for two (2020 when no fans were allowed due to Covid and 2024 he was forced to miss because of cancer surgery). Mark has lived the last several years of his life according to his purpose statement, “Everyone has painful experiences in life. If you can take a painful experience you’ve had and use it as a means of helping someone else out with their pain, you turn your own pain into a blessing”. And now he calls himself as the “healthiest unhealthy guy in the world”.
